A man from Akron, Ohio, has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for supplying methamphetamine and fentanyl throughout Summit County. Ernest Shropshire, 38, received a sentence of 121 months from U.S. District Judge John R. Adams after pleading guilty in January to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl, and distribution of fentanyl.
Shropshire will also serve five years of supervised release following his imprisonment.
Court documents show that between April 1 and August 28, 2023, Shropshire supplied drugs to Calvin Roberts, 42. He would place the drugs in a garbage can behind his house and inform Roberts and other buyers where they could pick them up. Roberts then sold the drugs to his neighbor Andrew Corbin, 36. Both men lived close to each other and sold the drugs from their homes. The network used co-conspirators to distribute the methamphetamine and fentanyl further throughout Summit County.
Roberts, Corbin, and Phillip August, 57, all from Akron, have already been sentenced after pleading guilty for their involvement in the conspiracy.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) investigated the case.
Assistant United States Attorney Joseph P. Dangelo prosecuted the case for the Northern District of Ohio.
