Aqua Ohio announced on April 16 that it will continue its water main flushing program in the Marion County service area from Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24. The flushing will take place between 8:00 a.m. and midnight each day.

The company said this activity is part of its regular maintenance to ensure hydrants and valves function properly and to help prevent sediment buildup in the system. Don Scott, Operations Supervisor for the Marion Division, said, “Flushing is an important part of our system’s regular maintenance program. It ensures hydrants and valves are working properly and helps prevent sediment buildup.” Scott also added, “Aqua Ohio consistently meets or exceeds all drinking water standards and maintaining the distribution system helps preserve that quality and reliability.”

No interruptions in water service are expected during the flushing period. However, customers may experience temporary drops in water pressure or discoloration of their tap water. Residents are advised to avoid doing laundry when crews are working nearby to prevent possible staining. If discoloration occurs, running several cold-water faucets at once can help clear the lines more quickly.

The company released a detailed schedule for each day’s targeted streets throughout Marion County during the week-long process. Customers with questions about the work can contact Aqua Ohio’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 877-987-2782.

Water main flushing programs like this one are standard practice among utilities to maintain safe drinking water delivery systems.
