Avient Corporation announced on April 15 that it will showcase its latest material technologies designed for demanding applications and extreme environments at Techtextil 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 21 to 24. The company will feature Dyneema ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers and composites, as well as Fiber-Line coated yarns and functionalized fibers, which aim to address the needs of performance brands, outdoor gear manufacturers, sporting goods companies, and medical textile producers.

The exhibition is significant because manufacturers often face challenges balancing strength and weight in their products. Lightweight materials can lack durability while stronger options tend to be heavier or stiffer. This balance is crucial for athletes who require light yet durable equipment, adventurers needing resilient but portable gear, and medical textile makers seeking supportive yet comfortable solutions.

“Textile manufacturers are constantly pushing boundaries, but material limitations have held them back,” said Chiharu Pidgeon, Global Business Manager, Fabrics & Composites for Dyneema at Avient Corporation. “Our technologies can address the traditional weight-strength tradeoff. Dyneema fiber delivers 15 times the strength of steel at a fraction of the weight, while our Fiber-Line Engineered Fibers provide tailored functionality—abrasion resistance, water repellency, and flexibility—exactly where it’s needed.”

Dyneema UHMWPE fiber is reported by Avient to be up to fifteen times stronger than steel by weight while being light enough to float on water. The company says this enables up to a seventy percent reduction in product weight without sacrificing abrasion resistance or chemical durability—key features for technical outdoor applications such as mountaineering equipment or athletic apparel.

In addition to Dyneema products aimed at high-performance markets like outdoor gear and sportswear manufacturing, Avient will also display Fiber-Line engineered fibers that offer custom properties including abrasion resistance and flexibility tailored for specific uses.

According to the official website of Avient (https://www.avient.com/), the company advances sustainability through recyclable and bio-based materials; delivers specialized solutions across sectors such as packaging and transportation; operates globally with manufacturing centers; specializes in polymer formulations enhancing product performance; focuses on consumer goods among other industries; and has its headquarters in Avon Lake, Ohio.

Looking ahead from Techtextil 2026 Frankfurt participation—which takes place in Hall 11.1 at booth D18—Avient plans continued development of advanced material solutions supporting both high performance requirements and sustainability initiatives.
