The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team has announced the addition of Javon Ruffin to their roster. The announcement was made by head coach Todd Simon on May 2, 2025. Ruffin, a 6-foot-5 guard from Phoenix, Arizona, transfers to the Falcons after four seasons with Colorado, including a redshirt year in 2021-22.

“We are excited to announce the signing of Javon Ruffin,” said Simon. “Javon brings a well-rounded game and significant Big 12 experience to our program. At 6-foot-5, his size will be an asset at the guard position. He can play on and off the ball which fits our up-tempo style. His work ethic and basketball IQ will make everyone around him better as well.”

During his last season with Colorado in 2024-25, Ruffin played in 33 games and started in ten of them. He averaged 20.2 minutes per game and scored a total of 184 points, averaging 5.6 points per game. Additionally, he contributed with 68 assists and 66 rebounds over the season.

Injuries affected Ruffin’s participation during the first half of the previous season (2023-24), but he returned on December 29 to play in 18 games. He achieved an impressive free throw shooting percentage of 81.8%.

Ruffin began his college career at Colorado in the redshirt season of 2021-22 and started playing actively from the following year (2022-23). During that period, he participated in 24 games with two starts.

Ruffin is also noted for his family background; his father Michael Ruffin played collegiate basketball at Tulsa before spending nine seasons in the NBA.
