The Bowling Green State University baseball team defeated Ohio State University 9-3 in Columbus on April 7, marking the Falcons’ first win over the Buckeyes since 2011. The Falcons scored six runs in the first inning and held Ohio State hitless from the fifth inning onward to secure their fourth consecutive victory this month.

This win is significant as it ends a long drought against a major opponent and continues Bowling Green’s strong start to April, with their best record at this point in the month since beginning April of 2006 with five straight wins.

Luke Krouse started on the mound for Bowling Green, pitching four innings before Ty Roder and Titus Lotz combined for nine strikeouts over five hitless innings of relief. Sam Seidel led at the plate with three hits, four runs, and a solo home run in the ninth inning. The victory also marks Bowling Green’s first win over a Power Conference team since defeating Louisville in February 2023.

Key moments included Carter Mottice’s leadoff triple to start the game and Seidel immediately driving him home. Additional runs came from singles by Vinny Salvione and Alex Laird, as well as capitalizing on Ohio State errors. DiLodovico contributed two RBIs while Mitta extended his hitting streak to four games.

Statistically, Roder notched his first win of the season by striking out six batters without allowing a hit during his relief appearance. Lotz continued his streak of scoreless outings, now up to four consecutive appearances totaling five innings pitched without an earned run allowed.

Looking ahead, Bowling Green will host Lourdes at Steller Field on Wednesday evening. Any updates or schedule changes will be posted on BGSUFalcons.com and social media platforms.
