The Bowling Green State University baseball team completed its first home series of the season against the Ohio Bobcats on March 22, with Ohio winning the final game 7-3. The Falcons initially led by three runs before a six-run sixth inning by Ohio changed the outcome.
This game marked an important early test for Bowling Green as they opened their home schedule and looked to build momentum for upcoming matchups. The result also provided insight into key players’ performances and areas for improvement ahead of a busy week.
In Sunday’s contest, TJ Takats delivered his first three-hit game of the year, including a double that was his first extra-base hit this season. Andrew DiLodovico continued his strong form at bat, extending both his hitting and scoring streaks to six games while going two-for-four with two runs scored. Anthony Mitta added two hits and has now recorded hits in nine out of the last ten games, driving in seven runs over that stretch.
The Falcons took an early lead after Sam Seidel walked in the third inning and later scored on Mitta’s RBI single. Zack Horky was hit by a pitch with bases loaded to make it 2-0 through three innings. Another walk brought home DiLodovico in the fifth for a 3-0 advantage before Ohio responded decisively in their half of the sixth.
Bowling Green will have an off day Monday before hosting Tiffin on Tuesday (March 24) and Findlay on Wednesday (March 25), both scheduled for afternoon starts at Steller Field. Updates regarding any schedule changes will be posted on BGSUFalcons.com and via social media channels.
