The Bowling Green State University baseball team announced on April 6 that it will play two midweek games this week, starting with an away game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Tuesday, April 7 at 6 p.m., followed by a home matchup at Steller Field against the Lourdes Gray Wolves on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m.

These contests are significant as they offer opportunities for the Falcons to build on recent successes and set new records. Fans are encouraged to monitor schedule updates through BGSUFalcons.com or via social media platforms including Twitter/X (@BGSU_Baseball).

Alex Laird made headlines in the recent series against Akron by stealing seven bases in a single game, setting both a program and Mid-American Conference (MAC) record. He was just one shy of tying the NCAA record of eight stolen bases in a game. As of now, Laird has accumulated 12 stolen bases this season, trailing only teammate Sam Seidel’s total of 13. The Falcons as a team stole twelve bases in their last game against Akron—the most recorded since detailed statistics began in 2001.

Ohio State enters Tuesday’s contest riding a seven-game winning streak and has won eleven out of its last twelve games, averaging ten runs per outing while allowing just over five runs per game. This meeting marks the fifty-seventh all-time between Bowling Green and Ohio State; their last encounter was on April 9, 2024 when OSU secured a win.

Lourdes arrives with an overall record of eleven wins and nineteen losses for the season. The upcoming match will be their first-ever meeting with Bowling Green and will make them the two hundred seventy-fifth opponent faced by BGSU baseball historically.

Ethan Stade has emerged as a standout pitcher for Bowling Green recently, averaging more than eight strikeouts per appearance over his last five outings. He currently leads the MAC in strikeouts per nine innings and ranks thirteenth nationally.

Looking ahead, these midweek contests represent important tests for Bowling Green as it seeks to maintain momentum following its first series sweep of the season.
