The Bowling Green State University baseball team achieved a walk-off victory against Tiffin on March 24 at Steller Field, winning 7-6 and extending their home midweek winning streak to 21 games. The game was decided in the bottom of the ninth inning when Brayden Curlis singled down the third base line, allowing Sam Seidel to score from second base.
This result maintains Bowling Green’s strong performance in home midweek contests, with their last such loss dating back to the final home midweek game of the 2018 season. The win also brings Bowling Green’s all-time record against Tiffin University to seven wins and one loss.
During the game, Zack Horky hit a solo home run in the eighth inning that tied the score and sparked a two-run rally for Bowling Green. After Tiffin leveled again in the top of the ninth, Seidel drew a walk and stole second before Curlis delivered his decisive hit. According to team statistics, this marks Curlis’ first time registering a walk-off hit for BGSU after being involved as a scoring run twice last season.
Several players contributed notable performances: Seidel went two-for-three with two runs scored, an RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases; Alex Laird recorded two hits, two RBIs, one run scored and three stolen bases—a new career high for him; Horky added his third home run of the season; four pitchers each registered three strikeouts during their appearances.
Bowling Green stole eight bases during this contest—the most since at least 2001 according to available online records—though it remains short of BGSU’s single-game record set at 27 stolen bases in April 1921 against Findlay.
Looking ahead, Bowling Green will continue its homestand by facing Findlay on Wednesday (March 25) with first pitch now scheduled for 6 p.m., reflecting an updated start time. Further schedule changes will be posted on BGSUFalcons.com and official social media channels.
