The Bowling Green State University baseball team will resume Mid-American Conference play with a three-game series at Northern Illinois, starting Friday, March 27. The Falcons and Huskies are scheduled to begin the series at 4 p.m. EST, with games continuing on Saturday and Sunday at earlier times each day. All games will be available to stream on NIU All-Access.
This matchup comes as both teams have shown strong performances in conference play so far this season. Bowling Green enters the weekend after a five-game homestand and will return home for nine of their next ten games following the trip to DeKalb.
The Falcons’ pitching staff has been effective in striking out opponents, averaging 9.1 strikeouts per nine innings and totaling 200 strikeouts over their first 22 games. Jacob Turner leads with three outings of five or more strikeouts, followed by Nate Kress and Ethan Stade with two each, and Carrson Sova with one. The team is on pace to break its own program record for total strikeouts in a season.
Northern Illinois holds a 6-3 record within the conference and is currently riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping Miami (OH) last weekend. In previous meetings between these teams, Bowling Green holds an advantage in the all-time series but was outscored by NIU during last year’s regular-season matchups despite winning two out of three games.
Individual players have also made notable contributions recently: Sam Seidel has moved into eighth place all-time in career stolen bases for Bowling Green; Andrew DiLodovico has posted a six-game hitting streak; Ethan Stade recorded seven scoreless innings in his latest start; Brayden Curlis delivered key hits during midweek contests including a walk-off single.
Looking ahead, both teams rank among the top in triples hit this season within the conference while also being leaders in limiting triples allowed by opponents.
