The Bowling Green State University baseball team defeated the Lourdes Grey Wolves 13-4 in Bowling Green on April 8, marking its fifth consecutive victory. The Falcons’ bullpen delivered a strong performance, pitching more than seven scoreless innings, while every player in the lineup recorded at least one hit.

This win gives the Falcons a perfect 5-0 record for April, their best start to the month since achieving the same record in April 2006. The game saw notable contributions from several players both offensively and defensively.

Joey Buchanan, Andrew Heffernan, Ethan Papacek and Chase Clatur combined for over seven innings of relief without allowing a run and totaled ten strikeouts. Offensively, TJ Takats and Chase Chopin each hit their first home runs of the season to help lead Bowling Green’s scoring effort. Anthony Mitta went three-for-four at bat with two runs scored and an RBI, extending his hitting streak to five games.

After falling behind early due to a four-run second inning by Lourdes—highlighted by Andrew Arntson’s three-run home run—the Falcons responded with consistent offense throughout the game. Key moments included Takats’ go-ahead home run in the fifth inning and Chopin’s three-run homer in the eighth that extended Bowling Green’s lead.

The Falcons will return to Mid-American Conference play as they host Central Michigan for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 10 at Steller Field. Updates regarding schedule changes will be available on BGSUFalcons.com and through official social media channels.
