The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team is set to travel to Buffalo, New York, for a matchup against the Buffalo Bulls on Saturday. The game will be held at Alumni Arena and marks the 50th meeting between the two teams. Fans can watch the game via streaming on ESPN+, with Todd Walker providing radio commentary on WFRO Eagle 99.

The historical series between Bowling Green and Buffalo stands narrowly in favor of Buffalo, who lead 25-24. Earlier this season, Bowling Green secured a 79-61 victory over Buffalo at the Stroh Center. Both teams enter Saturday’s game tied in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings with identical records of 3-8. The outcome will determine which team holds the head-to-head tiebreaker.

A win for Bowling Green would not only even out the all-time series but also mark their first victory in Buffalo since January 2021. It would extend their winning streak against Buffalo to three games, a feat not achieved since they won nine consecutive meetings from 1998 to 2002.

Bowling Green has been notable this season for its trio of players—Marcus Johnson, Trey Thomas, and Derrick Butler—who have each attempted over 130 three-pointers. This achievement sets them apart as no other MAC team has more than one player reaching that mark.

Buffalo has posted a record of 3-5 since their last encounter with Bowling Green, including victories over Western Michigan and Central Michigan. Their recent win was against Northern Illinois.

In terms of individual performances, Derrick Butler has been impactful off the bench for Bowling Green, averaging 18 points per game over his last three appearances. Javontae Campbell continues to climb up BGSU’s single-season steals list with his recent performances putting him fourth all-time for the program.

DaJion Humphrey is approaching a career milestone of 1,000 points after returning from injury. Jamai Felt is among the MAC leaders in blocks this season with his performance contributing significantly to Bowling Green’s defense.
