Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team will finish its regular season on Friday with a game against Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. The match, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will be available to watch on ESPN+ and can be heard on WFRO Eagle 99 with commentary from Todd Walker.
The Falcons have already secured a place in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament, but their final seed is still uncertain. Bowling Green could end up as either the fifth or sixth seed depending on the outcome of their game and the result of Ohio’s matchup against Miami later that night. If Bowling Green wins and Ohio loses, the Falcons would secure the fifth seed and face Toledo in the tournament’s first round. Any other combination would leave them as the sixth seed, playing Kent State.
This meeting marks the 105th time Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan have played each other. Bowling Green leads the series 59-45 overall but trails when playing away in Ypsilanti, where Eastern Michigan holds a slight advantage at 24-23. Earlier this season, Bowling Green won 85-79 at home against EMU after an 11-1 run in the final minutes. In that game, Mayar Wol scored 25 points while Troy Glover II recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
A win for Bowling Green would sweep this season’s series against Eastern Michigan for the first time since 2022-23 and even out their record when visiting EMU to 24-24. It would also mark their first regular-season finale victory since the 2023-24 campaign and bring their road record to .500 for this season.
Eastern Michigan has struggled since its last meeting with BGSU, recording just one win in its past eleven games—a victory over Central Michigan on February 17. Several losses were by narrow margins, including close contests against Kent State, UMass, and Akron.
With their recent win over UMass, Bowling Green clinched a MAC Tournament spot for a third consecutive year—something they last achieved from 2003 to 2005.
Individually, Javontae Campbell continues to stand out by leading the nation with an average of 3.1 steals per game (93 total), breaking his own program record set last year. He is approaching the MAC single-season steals record of 103 set by Bonzi Wells during the 1997-98 season.
Troy Glover II has made defensive contributions as well, registering at least one block in thirteen of his last sixteen games and reaching tenth place on BGSU’s single-season blocks list with forty-four blocks so far.
Sam Towns is concluding his collegiate career strongly; he recently hit five three-pointers in one game—a personal best—and followed it up with fifteen rebounds and seven assists in another outing.
Campbell is also nearing another milestone: he is forty points away from entering BGSU’s top ten for single-season scoring while already ranking among leaders for assists—a feat previously accomplished only by Antonio Daniels during the mid-1990s.
