The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team was defeated by the Buffalo Bulls 89-78 on Tuesday night at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Falcons, now with a record of 13-8 overall and 4-5 in Mid-American Conference play, were unable to overcome Buffalo’s strong three-point shooting despite making half of their own field goal attempts.

Javontae Campbell led Bowling Green with 31 points and seven assists. He has now led the team in both categories for the seventh time this season. “Campbell again led the Falcons in both points and assists, the seventh time this year he’s done so, finishing with 31 and seven, respectively. His 31 gives him a team-leading nine games with 20+ points and two with 30+ this season. He’s also now led BGSU in assists in eight straight games as well as 12 of the last 14. Campbell also made two three-pointers, his third-straight game with multiple triples.” Troy Glover II recorded his third double-double of the season with 10 points and a season-high matching ten rebounds.

Buffalo started strong with an early run but Bowling Green kept pace through much of the first half before Buffalo pulled ahead to lead at halftime. In the second half, Bowling Green narrowed the deficit several times but could not regain control as Buffalo continued to convert from long range.

Sam Towns contributed nine points, six rebounds, and a season-high three blocks for Bowling Green. Josiah Shackelford added nine points and five rebounds while Mayar Wol scored seven points along with two rebounds and two assists.

Looking ahead, Bowling Green will travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan on Saturday to face Central Michigan University.
