The Bowling Green State University baseball team faced the Cincinnati Bearcats on Wednesday in their first midweek game of the season and their first contest in Ohio this year. The Falcons were led by Sam Seidel, who recorded two hits and scored Bowling Green’s only run. Cincinnati won the game 11-1 in seven innings.

Cincinnati started strong, scoring twice in the first inning and adding another run in the second for a 3-0 lead. In the fourth, Seidel singled to center field, stole second base, advanced to third on a ground ball, and then scored on another grounder from Zack Horky to make it 3-1. Cincinnati responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth. A three-run home run later that inning extended their lead to 9-1. The Bearcats added single runs in both the sixth and seventh innings for an 11-1 final score.

Seidel went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored and one stolen base. Other notable performances included Anthony Mitta, Brady Birchmeier, Carter Mottice, and Griffin Scheiderer each collecting a hit.

Seidel continued his strong start to the season with his fourth multi-hit game out of seven played so far. He also registered his seventh stolen base of the year after entering this matchup ranked among national leaders for total steals per game. Mitta extended his hitting streak to four games—the longest current streak on the team—while Scheiderer made his collegiate debut as designated hitter and recorded his first career hit.

Bowling Green will next play a three-game non-conference series at Samford beginning Friday at 5 p.m. EST before starting Mid-American Conference play next week.
