Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team is set to face the Buffalo Bulls at the Stroh Center on Tuesday, January 27, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Both teams currently have 13-7 records this season. Bowling Green has a 4-4 record in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play, while Buffalo stands at 3-5 after losing their last five games. The game will be streamed on ESPN+, and Todd Walker will provide radio coverage on WFRO Eagle 99.

This meeting marks the 51st time Bowling Green and Buffalo have played each other, with the all-time series tied at 25 wins each. Bowling Green has a stronger record when hosting Buffalo, leading those matchups 16-9. The Falcons have won the last three meetings against the Bulls, including two victories at home. This will be the only regular-season game between these teams this year.

Javontae Campbell leads MAC players in scoring during conference games with an average of 23.6 points per game, which is two points higher than any other player in the league.

According to Bowling Green’s athletic department: “A Bowling Green Win Would… Grant Bowling Green back-to-back wins at home for the first time during the 2026 calendar. Swing the all-time series against Buffalo to Bowling Green’s favor at 26-25. Push BGSU’s winning streak against Buffalo to four-straight games, the longest streak for BGSU against Buffalo since winning the first nine meetings all-time. Mark the 48th win in Coach Simon’s tenure at BGSU, nearing the 50-win milestone. Give the Falcons 1,494 wins in program history, drawing close to the 1,500 milestone.”

Tuesday night’s game will also feature Coaches vs. Cancer initiatives; coaches will wear special attire and pins as part of efforts across college basketball to raise cancer awareness and support research funding efforts nationwide through similar events.

Additionally, it is Medical Professionals Night at Stroh Center; medical professionals are invited to contact BGSU’s ticket office for special deals related to attendance.

Fans attending games at BGSU venues must comply with a clear bag policy that applies to all future events held there; media representatives are required to use only designated entrances under this policy.

To improve accessibility for guests with limited mobility attending men’s and women’s basketball games during the current season and beyond, additional designated parking spaces have been added on Lot 24’s north side near Stroh Center. These spots remain paid parking and are marked by signage; fans using them should enter through Lot 24’s Student Entrance and may use a service elevator for arena access.

Buffalo began its season strong but has recently struggled after starting out with a record of thirteen wins and two losses—including three early conference victories—before dropping five straight games since January third.

In their most recent matchup last year, Javontae Campbell scored twenty points along with three rebounds and three assists for Bowling Green; he also had two steals in both meetings between these teams last season.

Campbell currently averages a nation-leading number of steals per game (3.4), putting him on track to break school and conference single-season records for steals; he also leads his team in assists during MAC play (6.6 per game).

Troy Glover II has contributed by recording seven or more rebounds over five consecutive games while averaging over eight rebounds per contest during that stretch; he ranks among conference leaders in both rebounding and blocked shots during MAC play.

Defensively, Bowling Green averages more steals than any other NCAA Division I team (11.3 per game) and forces opponents into an average of over seventeen turnovers per contest—ranking fourth nationally—and holds one of Division I’s best turnover margins (+5.4).

The team’s defensive success is highlighted by holding opponents below seventy points: “When the Falcons hold a team below 70 points,” according to official information from BGSU Athletics staffers,”BGSU holds an 11-0 record this season… However when opponents eclipse [that] mark [they] are just two-and-seven.”
