The Bowling Green State University men’s golf team finished tied for ninth place at the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational, according to an April 14 announcement. Andrew Lee achieved his first career top ten finish by placing seventh overall among 92 competitors.

The team’s performance was marked by strong individual showings. Angelo Luciani secured a spot in the top twenty, finishing fifteenth overall. The tournament was hosted and won by Kentucky University, while the middle of the standings saw frequent changes, with positions six through eleven separated by only six strokes.

Team scores included Andrew Lee at +4 in seventh place and Angelo Luciani at +9 in fifteenth. Other notable finishes were Charlie Pettrone in eleventh place with +27, LT Harris sixty-third with +20, and Pedro Garcia seventieth with +21. Bowling Green finished tied for ninth alongside UT Martin with a total score of +51.

Head Coach John Powers said, “It was a very challenging test of golf this week, but we managed it fairly well. Andy had an exceptionally strong performance to back up his efforts at Sweetens Cove. We can still do a better job of managing windy conditions and evaluating our lies for shots out of the rough. We know those factors can be critical to scoring well in the MAC Championship at the end of the month.”

Looking ahead, Powers and his team will compete next at The Muirfield Shootout hosted by Miami of Ohio University on Monday (April 18) before heading into the Mid-American Conference Championship later this month.
