Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team is set to return to the court after a week-long break, hosting Eastern Michigan at the Stroh Center on Saturday, January 17. The game will start at 1 p.m. and can be streamed on ESPN+, with Todd Walker providing radio commentary on WFRO Eagle 99.

This matchup marks the 104th meeting between Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, with the Falcons leading the series 58-45 overall and holding a 35-16 advantage in home games. In their last encounter, Bowling Green secured a win over Eastern Michigan with a score of 65-60 in Ypsilanti.

A victory for Bowling Green would represent their second consecutive win against Eastern Michigan and their first home victory over the Eagles since an overtime result in January 2024. It would also bring their Mid-American Conference (MAC) record back to .500 at 3-3, mark their first home win of the calendar year, and move them closer to reaching 1,500 all-time program wins.

Javontae Campbell has been a standout for Bowling Green this season. Through 17 games, he is averaging 3.4 steals per game for a total of 57—currently leading all NCAA Division I players in average steals per game and ranking second nationally in total steals. Campbell is on pace to match or surpass both his own single-season school record (90) and the MAC record (103).

Mayar Wol has made an impact since joining the starting lineup, averaging nearly 22 points per game as a starter while shooting efficiently from three-point range over his last three games. Troy Glover II has contributed strong rebounding performances recently, leading the team in rebounds during each of the past two contests.

Campbell’s playmaking extends beyond defense; he has led Bowling Green in assists in eight of their last ten games and is averaging just over six assists per contest during that span.

Eastern Michigan enters Saturday’s game with a balanced season so far at nine wins and nine losses overall, including a conference record identical to Bowling Green’s at three wins and three losses. The Eagles are coming off a recent victory against Northern Illinois. Redshirt freshman Mohammad Habhab leads EMU across several statistical categories.

Fans attending events at BGSU venues must comply with a clear bag policy now in effect for all future games at locations such as Stroh Center. Media members are required to use only designated entrances under this mandate.

To improve accessibility for fans with limited mobility attending basketball games at Stroh Center during the current season, additional parking spaces have been allocated on the north side of Lot 24 near designated entrances. These spaces remain paid parking areas clearly marked by signage.

After facing some of the strongest teams early in MAC play—a stretch that saw Campbell play every minute across multiple tough matchups—the Falcons now approach what is considered one of the easier remaining schedules within conference play based on current records.
