Bowling Green State University’s men’s basketball team secured a 85-79 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday at the Stroh Center. The Falcons built a lead of 21 points in the first half, but Eastern Michigan narrowed the gap and took a second-half lead before Bowling Green responded with an 11-1 run in the final four minutes to claim victory.

Mayar Wol led Bowling Green with 25 points, including 19 in the first half. Javontae Campbell contributed 18 points and five assists. Josiah Shackelford added 13 points off the bench, while Javon Ruffin scored 12. Troy Glover II recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, also tying his season high with four blocks.

“The Falcons won the opening tip and tallied the first points with Troy Glover II working for a second chance bucket. Javontae Campbell kept it going for a 4-0 BGSU start before the first EMU basket,” according to game details provided by Bowling Green State University.

After leading by as many as 21 points, Bowling Green saw its advantage shrink as Eastern Michigan mounted a comeback. The Eagles eventually tied the game at 65-65 and later took a lead of up to five points in the second half. However, key plays from Campbell and Glover helped Bowling Green regain control late in the contest.

“Out of the break, Campbell went on a 5-0 run, making two from the field and adding a free throw, to put the Falcons in front 79-78 to force an EMU timeout. After the timeout, the Eagles made one at the line to tie, but a Campbell layup reclaimed the lead. Shackelford added four free throws down the stretch to claim the 85-79 final,” stated university officials.

Wol has now led Bowling Green in scoring for two consecutive games and has reached at least 20 points on four occasions this season. He also made five three-pointers for his second straight game achieving that mark. Glover’s performance marked his third consecutive game leading Bowling Green in rebounds.

The win improves Bowling Green’s record to 12-6 overall and brings them back to .500 (3-3) in Mid-American Conference play. It is their first home win of calendar year 2026.

Bowling Green will play its next two games on the road against Western Michigan on January 20 and rival Toledo on January 24 before returning home to face Buffalo on January 27.
