Bowling Green State University guard Johnea Donahue has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Tuesday.

This marks the first time Donahue has received this honor during her career at Bowling Green. The Fort Wayne, Indiana native led the Falcons in scoring, assists, and steals last week while ranking second in assists. She recorded a 52 percent shooting rate from the field and made 92 percent of her free throws. Over two road games against Wisconsin and Marquette, she averaged 20 points, five rebounds, 4.5 assists, and three steals per game.

Donahue achieved career highs with 24 points and six assists in the game against Wisconsin, adding six rebounds and six steals while making all eight of her free-throw attempts. In the following matchup with Marquette, she scored a team-high 16 points by shooting six-for-11 from the field and four-of-five from the line. She is currently tied for first place in the MAC for both total steals and steals per game.

The Bowling Green Falcons women’s basketball team will compete this weekend in Alaska as part of the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout. They are scheduled to play UC Irvine on Friday night at 9:15 p.m., followed by a game against either St. Thomas or Alaska Anchorage on Saturday.
