The Bowling Green State University baseball team defeated Northern Illinois 5-4 in the first game of their series on March 27. The Falcons recorded six doubles among seven total hits, with five different players contributing to the doubles tally. Carrson Sova earned the win in relief, while Titus Lotz secured the save after Ethan Stade started and struck out eight batters.

This victory is significant for Bowling Green as it marks a strong start to their weekend series and showcases contributions from multiple players both offensively and defensively. The team scored two runs in the second inning and three more in the eighth to overcome a late lead by Northern Illinois.

Key moments included Andrew DiLodovico’s leadoff double in the second inning, which was immediately followed by an RBI double from Anthony Mitta for Bowling Green’s first run. Brayden Curlis added another run later that inning due to a fielding error. After trailing 4-2 going into the eighth, TJ Takats hit a two-RBI double to tie the game before DiLodovico delivered his second double of the night to put Bowling Green ahead.

Statistical leaders for Bowling Green included Stade with eight strikeouts over five innings, Sova pitching three innings with three strikeouts for his first win of the season, and Lotz striking out two batters in his save opportunity. Offensively, DiLodovico went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI; Takats contributed one double and two RBIs; Mitta had one double and one RBI; Curlis logged his third consecutive game with at least one hit and one RBI.

The teams are scheduled to continue their series on Saturday (March 28) at 3 p.m. EST (2 p.m. CT), concluding on Sunday (March 29). Any schedule changes will be announced through official channels including BGSUFalcons.com.
