The Bowling Green State University baseball team marked the continuation of its weekend series against Ohio with a celebration of recent renovations at Steller Field on March 21. Before the game, the university held an on-field recognition and ribbon cutting to showcase new turf, lights, and other improvements to the facility.
The event highlighted upgrades aimed at enhancing both player experience and fan engagement at Steller Field. The recognition ceremony took place prior to the Falcons’ matchup against Ohio, underscoring the significance of these enhancements for the university’s athletic programs.
During Saturday’s game, Ohio established an early lead by scoring four runs in the second inning and two more in the fourth. Bowling Green responded with runs from Anthony Mitta and Vinny Salvione but trailed 6-2 heading into the seventh inning stretch. Ohio extended its advantage with a two-run home run before Pauly Mancino hit a three-run homer for Bowling Green in the seventh, narrowing the gap to 8-5. Despite this effort, those would be the final runs scored as Ohio secured victory, setting up a decisive rubber match between the teams scheduled for Sunday at noon.
Statistical leaders for Bowling Green included Mancino (1-for-3, one home run, three RBI), Mitta (1-for-4, one double), Zack Horky (2-for-2), Andrew DiLodovico (2-for-3), and Ty Roder (2.1 innings pitched without allowing a run). DiLodovico extended his hitting streak to five games while Mancino recorded his second home run of the season—both coming within his last four games played. Mitta notched his second consecutive double and has hits in eight of his last nine games.
Bowling Green will conclude its weekend series against Ohio on Sunday with first pitch set for noon at Steller Field. Updates regarding schedule changes will be posted on BGSUFalcons.com and social media channels.
