Bowling Green State University’s baseball program has announced the signing of six new players for the upcoming 2027 season. Head Coach Kyle Hallock made the announcement on Wednesday, highlighting a group that includes two right-handed pitchers, two catchers, an infielder, and a two-way player. Each recruit is ranked among the top 75 players in their respective states by Prep Baseball Report.
Coach Hallock expressed his appreciation for his staff’s efforts in recruiting this class. “First off, thank you to Matt Rembielak and Jordan Barchus for their hard work in assembling another high-end recruiting class for our program,” said Hallock. “We are fortunate to have identified and secured another group of talented student-athletes that fit the Bowling Green Baseball profile. Each of these recruits are high achievers in the classroom, in their respective communities and on the diamond. They all approach the game with the work ethic necessary to be successful in our program and maintain our championship standards.”
The new signees include:
– Jack Andes (North Canton, Ohio / Hoover HS), an outfielder and right-handed pitcher who earned First Team All-Ohio honors after a strong 2025 season. He is ranked as Ohio’s No. 7 outfielder.
Coach Hallock described Andes as “a talented multisport athlete” with both strength and speed, adding: “With Jack, there’s not much he can’t do on a baseball field because he has the rare combination of strength and elite speed. He possesses a winning mentality as proven by his team’s successes in both football and baseball. We look forward to seeing the type of impact he is going to have on the mound and at the plate for us as a Falcon.”
– Carson Balls (Sanford, Fla. / Orangewood Christian), a catcher and utility player who served as team captain while earning All-District and All-Region honors last season.
According to Hallock: “Carson is a versatile athlete with a smooth left-handed swing that drives both gaps. Carson is a really good catcher but has the ability to impact a defense from a variety of different positions. He has led his high school team to deep tournament runs in the baseball-rich state of Florida, so his leadership skills are ready right now. We are excited to see what Carson is able to bring to our program during his career at BGSU.”
– Drew Jones (Lakewood, Ohio / Lakewood HS), an infielder recognized as First Team All-State who helped lead his team to regional semifinals.
Hallock said: “Drew is a physical corner infielder from northeast Ohio. He has shown elite bat speed and plus power for his age. Drew has the chance to become a difference-making threat offensively once he gets to work with Coach Rembielak and Coach Barchus regularly. He has good hands, a strong arm and a quick first step defensively. Drew is going to be a really good player throughout his time at Bowling Green State University.”
– Jaden Saavedra (South Lyon, Mich./ South Lyon East), an All-Conference catcher who captained his team into district semifinals.
Hallock commented: “Jaden is a high energy, athletic catcher who really competes at a level we don’t see often at the high school level. He has a unique passion for the game. We felt he was the most complete catcher coming out of Michigan in this class. Jaden is physically gifted offensively with twitch in the swing and lateral quickness defensively. The way he plays from the catcher position fits the personality of our team here at BGSU.”
– Harrison Schneider (Amherst, Ohio / Amherst Steele), right-handed pitcher named First Team All-Ohio after leading his team through several titles including state runner-up.
“Harrison is a winner,” said Hallock about Schneider’s accomplishments over three years in high school baseball competition across Ohio: “Harrison’s resume over the first three years in terms of accomplishments stacks up with anyone in the state of Ohio. He commands multiple pitches for strikes and doesn’t get rattled in big moments… He’s got rare combination of pitchability and projectability.”
– Jackson Urenovitch (Whitehouse, Ohio / Anthony Wayne), right-handed pitcher whose performances contributed significantly toward league titles culminating with state championship success.
Hallock stated: “Jackson is well-rounded competitor that controls flow of game from mound… Jackson is another multisport athlete that will get you fifteen rebounds in basketball game or throw you seven shutout innings on diamond…”
The Falcons’ coaching staff continues its focus on bringing local talent into its roster while maintaining competitive standards within collegiate baseball.
