The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team will conclude a two-game homestand on Wednesday, January 21, with a game against Ohio University at the Stroh Center. The matchup is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Head coach Fred Chmiel’s Falcons currently hold a record of 10-7 overall and 3-3 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). This game is part of a challenging three-game stretch for Bowling Green, as they face three of the top four teams in the conference standings.

Junior Paige Kohler enters the Ohio game with 999 career points at Bowling Green. If she scores one point or more during this matchup, she will become the 33rd player in program history to reach 1,000 points and would tie for seventh-fastest to achieve this milestone at BGSU. “Kohler would be the 33rd player in program history to reach the millennium mark. And, if she scores one point or more on Wednesday, she would be tied for the seventh-fastest player in BG history to reach 1,000 points,” according to information from BGSU Athletics.
Historically, Bowling Green has been among the top programs in the MAC. The Falcons have accumulated a record of 472-277 (.630) in regular-season conference play before facing Ohio. They hold both the second-highest winning percentage and second-most wins among MAC institutions. The team has won 15 regular-season MAC titles—tied for most among conference schools—and leads with eleven MAC Tournament championships.
The current stretch includes games against Miami, Ohio, and Massachusetts—three teams with strong records in conference play so far this season.
Senior Kendal Moxey recently led Bowling Green in scoring and rebounding over two consecutive games. She posted career highs of sixteen points and fifteen rebounds against Central Michigan on January 3. In another performance on January 10 versus Northern Illinois, Moxey scored fifteen points without missing a shot from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
Sophomore Lauren Gerken has returned from an injury that sidelined her last season and has now scored double digits four times over her past five appearances. She also improved her three-point shooting accuracy during recent games.
Ohio University enters Wednesday’s contest with an overall record of 11-5 and stands tied for third place in the MAC with a conference mark of 5-1. The Bobcats lead their league in both three-pointers made per game and steals while ranking second in turnover margin. Bailey Tabeling is Ohio’s leading scorer at an average of thirteen-and-a-half points per game.
Bowling Green leads Ohio by sixty-one wins to thirty-four losses all-time and has won each of their last four meetings—including victories last season by scores of seventy-four to fifty-three (in Athens) and ninety-one to sixty-one (at home).
After hosting Ohio, Bowling Green will travel to face Massachusetts on Sunday before returning home next week for another conference matchup against Akron.
