The Bowling Green State University men’s basketball team will begin its Mid-American Conference Tournament run against the No. 4-seeded Toledo Rockets on March 12 in Cleveland, according to a March 10 announcement. The matchup marks the third meeting between the two teams this season and their first MAC Tournament encounter since 2017.

This game is significant as it continues a long-standing rivalry, with Bowling Green and Toledo meeting for the 187th time in program history. The teams have split their regular-season games this year, each winning at home. The Falcons are making their third consecutive appearance in the MAC Quarterfinals, a feat they last achieved from 2003 to 2005.

Javontae Campbell has been a standout for Bowling Green during previous games against Toledo, averaging 24 points, 6.5 assists, five rebounds, and three steals per contest. Campbell also leads the nation with an average of 3.1 steals per game and has already broken his own single-season program record with 96 steals so far this year. He is approaching the Mid-American Conference record of 103 steals set by Bonzi Wells in the 1997-98 season.

A win for Bowling Green would secure them a second victory over Toledo this season and advance them to the MAC Semifinals. It would also make head coach Todd Simon the first in program history to reach the semifinals twice within his first three seasons at Bowling Green. Additionally, it would keep Bowling Green undefeated on neutral courts this year and bring them closer to their milestone of 1,500 all-time wins.

Fans attending Thursday’s game can participate in a pregame event at Harry Buffalo starting at 11:00 a.m., with tickets available through the BGSU Ticket Office. The quarterfinal round will be streamed on ESPN+, while radio coverage will be provided by WFRO Eagle 99.
