The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team was defeated by Ball State University, 75-63, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals on March 11 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

The game was significant as it marked the end of the Falcons’ tournament run and highlighted their resilience against a higher-seeded opponent. Despite trailing by as many as 17 points late in the first half, Bowling Green narrowed the gap to just four points early in the fourth quarter with a strong run led by Lauren Gerken and Paige Kohler.

Kohler led the Falcons with 16 points, while Gerken and Kaia Woods each contributed 13 points. Johnea Donahue added seven points along with ten rebounds and three steals. The Falcons’ comeback attempt included a nine-to-one run that brought them within striking distance before Ball State’s Grace Kingery responded with key baskets. Kingery finished as the game’s top scorer with 25 points for Ball State.

Throughout the contest, Bowling Green showed determination on both ends of the court. Notable moments included Woods going coast-to-coast for layups and Donahue making critical defensive plays. However, timely three-pointers from Kingery and Bree Salenbien helped Ball State maintain their lead down the stretch.

Ball State advances to play in Friday’s semifinal round of the tournament. For more information on BGSU women’s basketball, fans are encouraged to follow team updates on social media or visit BGSUFalcons.com.
