The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team is set to continue its six-game homestand, the longest regular-season stretch at home in program history, with a matchup against Kentucky State University on Wednesday, December 3. The game will be held at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Head coach Fred Chmiel leads the Falcons into this contest after opening the season with six consecutive away games across several states including Louisiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Alaska. This challenging travel schedule concluded with participation in the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout.

The current homestand began with a win over Purdue Fort Wayne and will continue through December with games against Defiance, Lourdes, Le Moyne, and Kent State. According to BGSU records, prior to this season the team’s longest regular-season homestand was five games.

Sophomore guard Johnea Donahue has been a standout for Bowling Green early in the 2025-26 campaign. In a recent game against Wisconsin on November 12, Donahue led all players in points (24), rebounds (six), assists (six), and steals (six). She also contributed key plays late in a narrow victory over Purdue Fort Wayne on November 30. Donahue currently leads the Mid-American Conference (MAC) with an average of 3.71 steals per game and ranks among conference leaders in several other categories.

Junior Paige Kohler was named to the Preseason All-MAC First Team following voting by league coaches. Last season she earned All-MAC Honorable Mention as well as academic honors from both the MAC and College Sports Communicators. Kohler started all 31 games last year and finished second on her team in scoring and rebounding. She continues to lead BGSU this season with an average of 14.6 points per game.

The Falcons have seen changes in their starting lineup as senior Emily Siesel and redshirt junior Jasmine Fearne made their first collegiate starts during a recent trip to Alaska Anchorage. Both logged career-high minutes and contributed significantly on both ends of the court.

Junior Taya Ellis has also been notable defensively with seven blocked shots through seven games this season, moving her up BGSU’s career blocks list.

Bowling Green has performed strongly at home historically; last season they posted an 11-2 record at Stroh Center for a .846 winning percentage—third best since the arena opened.

Kentucky State enters Wednesday’s contest with a record of 2-5 overall (2-3 SIAC). Their leading scorers are Amina Seck and Aaliyah Hayes. Head coach Amani Williams returned six players from last year’s squad that finished 9-17.

The only previous meeting between Bowling Green and Kentucky State took place more than four decades ago in November 1983; BGSU won that contest 74-71.

Following Wednesday’s game, Bowling Green will continue its homestand against Defiance on Sunday before facing Lourdes, Le Moyne, and Kent State later in December.
