The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team is set to face Marquette University on Friday, November 14, at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff and will be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the audio broadcast via Falcon Media Sports Network.
This matchup marks the Falcons’ second game in Wisconsin within three days as part of a stretch that sees them playing six consecutive games away from home to start the season. The team began their campaign with a win in Louisiana before taking on South Carolina and Wisconsin.
Sophomore guard Johnea Donahue delivered a standout performance in Wednesday’s loss against Wisconsin, recording career highs with 24 points and six assists. She also contributed six rebounds and six steals, going 8-for-16 from the field and making all eight free throw attempts. Through three games this season, Donahue leads the Mid-American Conference (MAC) with an average of 4.67 steals per game, which ranks her tied for tenth nationally.
Junior Paige Kohler was recently named to the Preseason All-MAC First Team following a vote by league coaches. Last season, Kohler earned All-MAC Honorable Mention honors and was recognized for her academic achievements. She started all 31 games last year, averaging 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest while leading the team with 76 three-point field goals made at a rate of 36.7%. Kohler has started every game since joining BGSU and currently appears on several school career leaderboards.
In preseason conference polling conducted among head coaches, Bowling Green was picked to finish sixth in the MAC for the upcoming season.
During their most recent outing against Wisconsin, Donahue led all players but BGSU fell short by a score of 90-78 despite shooting over 90% from the free-throw line as a team. Junior Taya Ellis matched Donahue’s rebounding total with six boards each.
Marquette enters Friday’s contest with a record of 2-1 after opening wins over Winthrop and Wisconsin but losing to Minnesota earlier this week. Three Golden Eagles starters are averaging double-digit points so far this season.
Bowling Green leads Marquette in their all-time series history with two previous victories—the most recent being a narrow win last December at home.
After facing Marquette, BGSU will travel to Alaska for participation in the Great Alaska Shootout tournament before returning home for their regular-season opener against Purdue Fort Wayne on November 30.
