Bowling Green State University’s women’s basketball team will play its first home game of the 2025-26 season on Sunday, November 30, against Purdue Fort Wayne at the Stroh Center. The Falcons began their season with six consecutive games away from home, traveling to Louisiana, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Alaska.
Head coach Fred Chmiel leads a squad that returns nine players from last year’s roster. The Falcons finished the previous season with an 18-13 record overall and went 11-7 in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play. Junior Paige Kohler was named to the Preseason All-MAC First Team after averaging 13.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season. Kohler has started every game since joining BGSU and is currently ranked among the program’s leaders in several statistical categories.
Sophomore Johnea Donahue has also made significant contributions early this season. She had a standout performance against Wisconsin on November 12, leading all players with 24 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Donahue followed up with another strong showing at Marquette and continued her consistent play during two games in Alaska. Through six games, she leads the MAC in steals per game and ranks among conference leaders in scoring and assists.
On November 22, seniors Emily Siesel and Jasmine Fearne started for the first time in their collegiate careers during a win over Alaska Anchorage. Both set career highs in minutes played, while Siesel achieved personal bests in several statistical categories.
In their most recent outing at the ASRC/ConocoPhillips Great Alaska Shootout, Bowling Green defeated Alaska Anchorage 67-63. Kohler scored a team-high 19 points—including ten in the fourth quarter—and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Donahue added 14 points while Fearne and Siesel contributed nine and eight points respectively.
The Falcons have been strong at home historically; they posted an 11-2 record at Stroh Center last season—the third-best home winning percentage since the venue opened fourteen years ago. Over the past five seasons, Bowling Green holds a .734 winning percentage at home.
Purdue Fort Wayne enters Sunday’s matchup with a record of 4-3, having won four of its last five games. The Mastodons are led by Alana Nelson (14.6 ppg), Jordan Reid (11.4 ppg), and Lili Krasovec (10.4 ppg). Head coach Maria Marchesano brings back three players from a team that finished second in Horizon League play last year.
Bowling Green leads Purdue Fort Wayne 5-0 in their all-time series; however, this will be their first meeting since November 2005.
Following Sunday’s contest, Bowling Green will continue its homestand with games against Kentucky State (December 3), Defiance (December 7), Lourdes (December 14), Le Moyne (December 16), and Kent State (December 20).
“After beginning the 2025-26 season with six consecutive games away from home, the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team starts a six-game homestand this weekend,” according to head coach Fred Chmiel.
