The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team is set to face Lourdes University at the Stroh Center on Sunday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. This game marks the continuation of a six-game homestand, which is the longest regular-season stretch at home in program history.
The Falcons, under head coach Fred Chmiel, enter the matchup with a record of 5-4, while Lourdes University comes in undefeated at 8-0. Sunday’s contest will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with Brad Woznicki and Samantha Momeyer providing commentary. An audio broadcast will also be offered by Falcon Media Sports Network, featuring Adam Duffin and Trey Kennedy.
Bowling Green has recently achieved two record-setting victories. On December 3, the Falcons defeated Kentucky State 103-32, setting a new school record for margin of victory at 71 points. Four days later, they surpassed that mark with an 83-point win over Defiance College (118-35), now standing as the largest margin in program history.
During these games, Bowling Green reached or exceeded the 100-point threshold twice—marking the first such occurrences since January 2023 and bringing their all-time total to thirty games with triple-digit scores. The team’s performance against Kentucky State represented their highest point total ever recorded at the Stroh Center and their best overall in more than twenty years.
In last Sunday’s win over Defiance, all thirteen Falcons players scored and grabbed rebounds. Junior Jaedyn Cook led with eighteen points; juniors Paige Kohler and Jasmine Fearne each added sixteen points—with Fearne setting a career high and hitting four three-pointers. Junior Taya Ellis recorded a double-double with fourteen points and thirteen rebounds.
Ellis also leads the Mid-American Conference in blocks per game this season (1.56) and has moved into a tie for thirteenth on Bowling Green’s career blocks list.
Lourdes University enters Sunday’s game averaging wins by thirty points per contest. Key players include Kaylona Butler (25.3 points per game) and Emma Pedroza (20.8 points per game), with Pedroza also leading in rebounds.
This will be the first meeting between Bowling Green and Lourdes in women’s basketball. After Sunday’s matchup, Bowling Green will continue its homestand against Le Moyne on Tuesday before opening Mid-American Conference play against Kent State next Saturday.
