Bowling Green women’s golf places fifth at Diane Thomason Invitational

The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) women’s golf team finished fifth at the Diane Thomason Invitational held in Iowa City, hosted by the University of Iowa. The event featured 16 teams, and BGSU recorded a combined score of 911.

Macie Elzinga led the Falcons with a three-round total of 222 (+6), securing a 10th place individual finish. Addison Kartusch continued her strong performance this fall with a total score of 229 (+13), tying for 17th place along with teammate Ava O’Sullivan, who also posted a 229. Sammie Dolce tied for 26th with a score of 231 (+15), while Audrey McIntyre finished tied for 86th at 250 (+34).

Head coach Erin Fahey commented on the team’s effort: “I’m really proud of the team for their performance this week. They all played some really solid golf and it was great to be in contention for a top finish again.” She also praised Elzinga’s leadership and play: “Huge shoutout to Macie Elzinga. She played fantastic golf all week and has been a leader for us all year.”

In the team standings, Iowa claimed first place with an overall score of 889 (+25). Montana State followed in second at 894 (+30), while Southern Mississippi and South Dakota tied for third at 906 (+42). Bowling Green rounded out the top five with their score of 911 (+47).

The Falcons are scheduled to return to competition at the Powercat Invitational in Manhattan, Kansas, on October 20-21.
