Buckeye Firearms Association Political Action Committee (BFA-PAC) released on Mar. 31 its grades and endorsements for candidates in the upcoming 2026 Ohio Primary Election, focusing on federal legislative, statewide, legislative, and select judicial races.

The guide provides voters with information about how candidates align with the organization’s priorities regarding firearm rights. The association said these evaluations are designed to help voters make informed decisions about candidates’ stances on gun ownership and related legislation.

The list includes ratings for U.S. Senate and House races, as well as state-level positions such as Attorney General, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor, State Senate and House seats, Supreme Court justiceships, Courts of Appeal judgeships, and party committee members. Grades are generally assigned based on survey responses from candidates; a ‘q’ following a grade indicates it is primarily based on survey answers rather than voting records or other confirmed data. Endorsements are noted alongside some names.

BFA-PAC noted that “the following grades and endorsements are not yet complete. We will continue to update this voter guide as we collect additional information.” Key dates highlighted include the start of military absentee voting on March 20, early in-person/mail-in voting beginning April 7, and Primary Election Day set for May 5.

According to the official website, Buckeye Firearms Association advocates for individuals’ rights to own firearms for legal purposes such as self-defense or recreation. The organization functions as a grassroots entity focused on firearm rights issues in Ohio according to its official website. It also delivers alerts about laws and politics affecting gun rights according to its official website while providing updates about relevant legislation and training opportunities according to its official website.

Looking ahead toward May’s primary election day, BFA-PAC said it will continue updating its voter guide as more candidate information becomes available.
