The City of Toledo announced on Apr. 22 that it will open a new Clean Toledo Recycling Center at 3900 Creekside Ave, offering residents a self-service, year-round facility for recycling and waste disposal. The center is scheduled to open to the public on Tuesday, June 2.

The new facility aims to provide Toledo residents with greater convenience and consistent access to recycling services beyond the seasonal Clean Toledo Free Refuse and Recycling Drop-Off events usually held during summer months. The city said proof of residency will be required for use, and the center will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Designed as a self-service operation, the Clean Toledo Recycling Center allows users to unload their own materials for quicker service. City staff will be present on-site to monitor materials, offer guidance, ensure safety protocols are followed, and assist residents as needed.

Materials accepted at the facility include donations of gently used items in good condition, electronics, scrap metal, appliances without refrigerant, food waste, recyclables, and yard waste (excluding grass clippings). However, household hazardous waste and tires will not be accepted at this location; instead they can be disposed of during special collection events scheduled throughout the year.

These special collection events are set for Saturday, June 13 at the Toledo Road & Bridge Maintenance Building (1189 Central Ave.), Saturday August 15 at a location yet to be determined, and Saturday October 3 again at the Road & Bridge Maintenance Building.

According to city officials in their announcement: “The Clean Toledo Recycling Center reflects the City of Toledo’s ongoing commitment to improving basic service delivery, enhancing neighborhood quality, and promoting environmentally responsible practices.”
