Cleveland Police Second District Detectives were involved in a special operation on October 5, focusing on car break-ins and stolen vehicles. At around 11:30 p.m., officers received information about two stolen vehicles moving through the Second District.

During their patrol, a detective heard a gunshot and then a crash near W30th and Monroe. Officers arrived at the scene and found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. They provided first aid until emergency medical services took him to the hospital.

According to initial findings, the man was shot while inside one of the stolen vehicles. The person responsible for the shooting has not been identified. Both stolen vehicles have since been recovered by police. The injured man is also considered a suspect in receiving stolen property and remains hospitalized as charges are pending. The investigation into the car break-ins and stolen vehicles continues.
