Cotton futures show mixed movement with gains in May contract

Cotton futures experienced varied changes on Apr. 30, with front month contracts showing gains between 45 and 70 points, while the May contract rose by 132 points. The US dollar index increased by $0.239 to $98.715, and crude oil prices climbed by $6.89 to reach $106.76.

The Seam reported that only 139 bales were sold on Tuesday at an average price of 68 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index rose by 20 points on April 28 to reach 89.35 cents per pound, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged at a level of 165,681 bales as of April 28. Additionally, the Adjusted World Price increased by another 365 points on Thursday afternoon to stand at 65.26 cents per pound.

As for specific contracts: May cotton was priced at 78.66 cents per pound (up by 132 points), July cotton was at 79.22 (down by 45 points), and December cotton stood at 80.46 (down by 65 points).
