A federal grand jury in Toledo, Ohio has indicted three men on charges of illegal reentry into the United States. The individuals are accused of residing in the country without authorization from either the U.S. Attorney General or the Secretary for Homeland Security, as required under Title 8 U.S. Code 1326.

The cases involve Gabriel Raymundo-Bernal, 28, a citizen of Guatemala; Hitai Perez-Jeronimo, 27, and Rosendo Gomez-Santiz, 35, both citizens of Mexico. Each man was previously removed from the United States at least once before being found again in separate counties across Ohio during August 2025.

Raymundo-Bernal was located in Wood County (Bowling Green) on August 25 after his most recent removal on April 4, 2019. Perez-Jeronimo was found in Putnam County (Ottawa) on August 7 following a prior removal dated July 29, 2016. Gomez-Santiz was discovered in Williams County (Stryker) on August 24 after his last removal on July 16, 2017.

The investigations were conducted by U.S. Border Patrol-Sandusky Bay Station and prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Sara Al-Sorghali and Frank H. Spryszak.

An indictment is not evidence of guilt and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

According to officials, these prosecutions fall under Operation Take Back America—a national initiative aimed at using Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration and related criminal activity.
