FOIA Request to Ohio State Executive – State Board of Education Regarding Instructional Mandates for State K-12 Schools on December 10, 2024.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent by Buckeye Reporter, a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. The request was made under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., and it specifically sought a list of all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools. This includes all required courses and/or general instruction.

As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we at Buckeye Reporter believe that access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep the public informed as we await a response from the Ohio State Executive – State Board of Education.
