The Franklin County Board of Elections announced on April 28 that the deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail for the May Primary/Special Election is today, but voters can still vote early in person at the Early Vote Center located at 1700 Morse Road in Columbus. After early voting ends on Sunday, the only option will be to vote at assigned polling locations on Election Day.
This reminder comes as recent changes under Senate Bill 293 require all absentee ballots returned by mail to arrive no later than 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, eliminating the previous four-day grace period. The board urges voters to return completed ballots as soon as possible so they are received before polls close at 7:30 p.m. on May 5.
Early in-person voting hours remain available through Sunday, with extended hours listed for each day leading up to Election Day. Voters who wish to hand deliver their absentee ballots may use the secured drop box or drive-thru service staffed by bipartisan board employees at the Early Vote Center. Anyone assisting another voter with a ballot must see an official for an attestation form.
