Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that the state is celebrating In-Demand Jobs Week to highlight job opportunities and support career growth across key industries. The announcement was made on X, a social media platform.
“This week is In-Demand Jobs Week – our statewide celebration of Ohio’s top jobs, industries, and skills,” said DeWine. “Whether you are preparing for your first job, exploring a career change, or looking to advance in your field, there are countless opportunities in The Heart of It All.”
In-Demand Jobs Week, an annual event held during the first full week of May, is a statewide initiative in Ohio aimed at promoting awareness of critical career pathways and growing industries. According to the Ohio Department of Education, the 2025 event will take place from May 5–9 and seeks to foster partnerships among schools, businesses, and community leaders to showcase in-demand occupations across the state. This initiative is part of Ohio’s broader workforce development strategy designed to inspire students and job seekers toward viable career options.
According to Uptempo Recruiting, Ohio’s most in-demand job sectors for 2025 include healthcare, manufacturing, technology, education, and green energy. Roles such as nurse practitioners, skilled tradespeople, software developers, and renewable energy technicians are experiencing rapid growth. This demand reflects Ohio’s diverse economy and evolving priorities in healthcare services, industrial innovation, and sustainability.
IBISWorld reports that Ohio’s employment base grew at an average annual rate of 0.2% over the past five years, reaching approximately 5.9 million workers in 2024. The state’s largest employment sectors remain healthcare and social assistance, manufacturing, and retail trade. Despite national economic shifts, these industries have shown resilience and continue to anchor Ohio’s labor market.
Governor DeWine was elected as Ohio’s 70th governor in 2018 after serving as the state’s attorney general, U.S. senator, and lieutenant governor. According to his official biography, DeWine has emphasized workforce development along with early childhood education and expanding career tech training. His administration has launched programs aimed at improving literacy rates and aligning education with Ohio’s labor market needs.
