Grove City Parks and Recreation held its annual Ecofest event at Town Center Park on April 18, bringing together hundreds of residents to celebrate Earth Day and learn about sustainable practices. The festival, which began in 2015, featured more than 40 organizations, vendors, and exhibit tables offering information and activities for attendees.

The event aims to encourage environmental stewardship while fostering community connections. Grove City emphasizes fiscal responsibility and efficiency while supporting community revitalization, according to the official website.

Mayor Richard L. “Ike” Stage led the traditional “Bike with Ike” ride—a 5.3-mile journey to Fryer Park—with participants of all ages joining him from the local area. “Yesterday was the first time I attended,” Miriam Waites Scudder commented via Facebook. “(I was) very impressed. So much valuable information was provided.”

Ecofest is one of several initiatives supported by Grove City through its parks and recreation programs that include sports, classes, performances, and events designed to engage residents in active lifestyles as reported by the official website. The city also maintains a network of parks, recreation centers, a welcome center, and a museum as part of efforts to build cultural ties within the community.

In addition to promoting sustainability through events like Ecofest, Grove City works to preserve its history from farming origins to suburbia through exhibits and programs that strengthen social vitality according to the official website.

Grove City operates as an independent incorporated municipality in Franklin County under a mayor-council government structure providing services in recreation, public safety, and economic development aimed at enhancing quality of life for residents as described by the official website. The city has earned recognition as a three-time recipient of Ohio Magazine’s Best Hometown award.

Residents who missed this year’s Ecofest are encouraged to look for its return in April 2027 or visit GroveCityOhio.gov/Events for other spring activities.
