As a volunteer with the Buckeye Firearms Association, Steven Loos recently attended GunCon 2025 in Cleveland. The event, organized by The Gun Collective, took place from June 25-28 and featured numerous sponsors and VIP guests representing gun-rights organizations and manufacturers.
John Commerford and David Conte from the National Rifle Association were among the notable attendees. Commerford addressed some of the NRA’s past challenges and shared his vision for its future, including goals for the 2026 election cycle. His speech resonated with many in attendance.
The convention also hosted various panelists who discussed industry trends and Second Amendment rights. Historian Ashley Hleblinsky, former director of the Cody Firearms Museum in Wyoming, was among them. She spoke about her recent expert testimony in court cases related to gun history.
Other key figures included Eric Pratt of Gun Owners of America, Sean Maloney of Second Call Defense, and NRA board candidate Rob Beckman. Recordings of these panels are available online.
A media range day on June 27 allowed participants to test new models from around 20 sponsors despite hot weather conditions. Companies such as Caldwell introduced innovative products like the Claycopter shotgun target thrower.
However, not all aspects of GunCon 2025 went smoothly. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, YouTuber Johnny B, and Paul Glasco were reportedly banned due to their controversial messages regarding transgender issues. Venue management made this decision according to John Patton’s YouTube video explanation.
Despite some controversies and long admission lines at the Twist Drill Building venue, GunCon 2025 was deemed successful overall by attendees like Loos.
Loos encourages feedback from those who attended regarding standout moments or areas for improvement at future events.
