Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich announced on May 19 a new indictment against Barry Bedenkop, a Wyoming man accused of sexually abusing a child over several years.
Bedenkop, age 61, now faces a total of 22 charges across four separate indictments. The latest indictment includes twelve additional counts: six for illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance and six for pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.
Previous charges against Bedenkop include two counts of child endangering, four counts of rape, three counts each of gross sexual imposition and sexual battery. Authorities first became aware of the case in May 2025. Since then, the investigation has continued and more information has emerged about alleged abuse that began when the victim was young and continued for several years.
The allegations involve forcing the victim into a cage, repeated sexual abuse, and exploitation through creation and possession of explicit images. The new indictment alleges that images showing the victim in various states of nudity were found on Bedenkop’s computers along with similar images depicting two other young victims.
“This defendant subjected his victim to years of horrific abuse beginning when the child was very young,” said Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.
Pillich said delayed disclosure is common in cases where prolonged abuse starts at an early age because victims are often controlled by fear, manipulation, isolation, and intimidation before they are able to come forward. “I commend the victim for such bravery,” Pillich said. “We intend to pursue full accountability for the horrific abuse alleged in this case and to ensure this defendant never again has the opportunity to harm another child.”
Bedenkop could face life in prison if convicted. He remains held at Hamilton County Justice Center on $461,000 bond related to earlier charges and is expected to be arraigned soon on these new charges.
