Husted has announced his support for legislation that aims to improve access to early cancer screenings for seniors. “This bill would ensure Ohio seniors—and seniors across America—can access advanced screenings to catch cancer when it’s most treatable—in its earliest stages. I’m proud to back this push for lifesaving, innovative care,” said Husted.

The proposed Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act is designed in response to the fact that adults aged 65 and older make up 60% of all cancer diagnoses. The bill seeks to provide seniors with improved access to tests that can identify cancer at earlier, more treatable stages rather than relying only on traditional diagnostic methods.

Rep. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) has introduced a companion version of the Multi-Cancer Early Detection Act in the House of Representatives.

Husted’s support for this legislation continues his focus on policies affecting seniors. He previously introduced the Preventing Deep Fake Scams Act, which addresses data and identity theft by establishing a task force focused on artificial intelligence fraud within financial services. Additionally, Husted has sponsored the SMART OTC Act, which proposes changes at the Food and Drug Administration so that some prescription drugs could become available over-the-counter. This measure is intended to reduce costs and expand health care access in Ohio and nationwide.
