With Independence Day 2025 here, many people celebrate in various ways. For some, it is a day off with pay or a time for family gatherings and fireworks. Rick Jones reflects on the deeper meaning of the holiday, focusing on the Constitution, founding fathers, and military personnel.

Jones emphasizes the importance of “FREEDOM,” particularly as outlined in the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution. He notes that while these rights are often spoken about, they are not without challenges. “Daily, there are people who are ready, willing and able to chip away at our most basic freedoms as guaranteed by the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution,” he states.

The First Amendment is highlighted for its role in allowing free speech, religious freedom, press freedom, peaceful assembly, and government petitioning. Jones argues that this was a key reason for America’s founding: “The First Amendment was of the utmost importance to our founding fathers.”

The Second Amendment is described as crucial for protecting these freedoms. Despite being heavily debated over time, it remains intact today. Historical figures like Benjamin Franklin and George Mason are quoted to support this view:

“They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” – Benjamin Franklin

“To disarm the people [is] the best and most effectual way to enslave them.” – George Mason

Jones urges support for those defending Second Amendment rights: “Please support those who fight against those who wish to take away your Second Amendment rights!”

He concludes with well wishes for Independence Day: “Here is wishing you a ‘HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY’!”

Finally, Jones encourages joining organizations like Buckeye Firearms Association to help defend these rights.
