Bowling Green senior guard Javontae Campbell was named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) men’s basketball team, according to an April 6 announcement from the conference. Campbell is one of 16 players across the league to receive this recognition for the 2025-26 season.

The Academic All-MAC award highlights student-athletes who excel both in academics and athletics. To qualify, a player must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and participate in at least half of their team’s games during the season. First-year students and transfers in their first year are not eligible.

Campbell’s selection adds to a series of honors he has received this year. In addition to being named Academic All-MAC, he was also recognized as Academic All-District and is under consideration for Academic All-America status, with that announcement expected on April 14. Athletically, Campbell earned several distinctions including MAC Defensive Player of the Year, spots on both the All-MAC First Team and Defensive Team, NABC All-District honors, as well as consideration for national defensive awards such as the Lefty Driesell Award and inclusion on the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team.

During his senior campaign, Campbell started all 32 games for Bowling Green. He set a new program record with 97 steals in a single season—third most all-time in MAC history—and led NCAA Division I in steals for the year. Offensively, he averaged a team-best 18.7 points per game overall and posted a MAC-leading average of 21.4 points per game against conference opponents while shooting an efficient fifty percent from the field over the season. He also contributed significantly as a playmaker with 163 assists total and ranked third in conference play by averaging six assists per game against MAC teams.

Bowling Green has now had at least one student-athlete earn Academic All-MAC honors in five out of six recent seasons.
