Buckeye Firearms Association has named Jim Samuel as its new Legislative Affairs Director. Samuel brings over three decades of experience in policy work at the Ohio Statehouse, where he served two Ohio governors and managed policy for seven cabinet agencies.
Samuel is a graduate of Ohio State University and an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force. He currently serves on the Ohio Wildlife Council, is a trustee for the Nature Conservancy – Ohio, and holds an elected position with the Franklin County Republican Central Committee.
He succeeds Rob Sexton, who recently accepted a role with Sportsmen’s Alliance. Samuel expressed enthusiasm about his new responsibilities: “It’s an honor to be selected as Legislative Affairs Director for the Buckeye Firearms Association, and I’m excited to represent and defend our Second Amendment rights at the Ohio Statehouse,” Samuel said. “My support for the Second Amendment began at a young age, attending NRA-sponsored shooting events at the YMCA in Euclid, Ohio. Since then, I’ve been actively involved in numerous political campaigns and 2A advocacy efforts at the Statehouse.
“In my personal life, I’m a passionate hunter and shooting sports advocate who takes great pride in introducing young people and nontraditional shooters to their first experience on a sporting clays range.”
Samuel joins BFA during an active period leading up to the 2026 elections. Nineteen pro-gun bills have been introduced so far in this session of the General Assembly.
