Bowling Green State University women’s basketball player Johnea Donahue has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the conference office on Tuesday.
This is the second time Donahue has received this honor during her career at Bowling Green, and also the second time she has earned it in the current season. She was previously recognized on November 18.
Donahue, who is from Fort Wayne, Indiana, led all players in both scoring and rebounding as Bowling Green opened its MAC schedule with a 73-69 victory over Kent State on Saturday. Returning after missing two games due to injury, Donahue scored 19 points and collected a career-high 11 rebounds. She also set a personal best by making three three-point shots, converting three out of four attempts from beyond the arc.
In the second half, Donahue contributed 13 points to help maintain Bowling Green’s lead. In the final 90 seconds of play, she secured two defensive rebounds after stops by her team. During the last 15 seconds of the game, she made three out of four free throws to extend Bowling Green’s advantage to two possessions each time.
The Falcons are scheduled to play again on December 30 when they travel to Ypsilanti for a matchup against Eastern Michigan at George Gervin GameAbove Center. Their next home game will be on January 3 against Central Michigan at Stroh Center.
