Kent State defeated Bowling Green State University 13-1 in a Mid-American Conference baseball game on Sunday in Kent, Ohio. The teams were tied 1-1 through four innings before Kent State scored 11 runs in the fifth inning to take control of the game.
Bowling Green’s Jackson Miller made his first collegiate start and allowed just three hits and one run with three strikeouts over four innings. He recovered from giving up a leadoff home run by striking out the next three batters in the first inning.
Vinny Salvione hit his third home run of the season for Bowling Green, tying the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning. Salvione has now homered or tripled in each game of the series against Kent State, extending both his hitting streak and RBI streak to six games.
Anthony Mitta extended his on-base streak to ten games with a single in the seventh inning. Jaxon Brown made his collegiate debut as a pinch hitter for Bowling Green during that same inning.
Bowling Green turned four double plays on defense, ending four of six innings with twin killings.
