The City of Lima announced on Apr. 21 the launch of its Build-Ready Program, an initiative designed to speed up housing development and increase access to quality homes in the community.
This program comes as many communities across Ohio face challenges with housing supply. The effort aims to reduce barriers for builders and developers, while also providing more options for residents seeking homes.
According to Veronica Cardello, AVP External Engagement at Ohio REALTORS, “The City of Lima is stepping forward in a big way with the launch of its new Build-Ready Program, a forward-thinking initiative designed to accelerate housing development, reduce barriers, and expand access to quality housing options across the community.” Cardello said that through collaboration with Ohio REALTORS and the Greater Ohio Policy Center, the program will offer free pre-approved building plans, flexible designs including single-family homes and duplexes adaptable to neighborhood needs, incentives such as tax abatements and utility tap fee waivers, access to build-ready lots including city- and land bank-owned properties, as well as dedicated support throughout the process.
Cardello said these tools help move projects from concept to construction faster by reducing red tape. She added that “this program is about more than just speed. It’s about building smarter, more connected communities.” She said aligning pre-approved designs with local goals supports neighborhood revitalization and long-term economic growth.
Ohio REALTORS supports real estate professionals through charitable efforts like scholarships offered by its foundation according to the official website. The organization represents over 40,000 real estate professionals statewide according to the official website and empowers them by offering advocacy resources aimed at upholding high ethical standards according to the official website. Its board is made up of elected leaders from within the industry according to the official website, extending operations across all 88 counties via 30 local boards according to the official website. The group also advocates for policies protecting property rights at both state and federal levels according to the official website.
Cardello concluded by congratulating Lima for prioritizing housing efficiency: “A huge congratulations to the City of Lima for leading the way and demonstrating what’s possible when communities prioritize housing, efficiency, and collaboration.”
