On October 15, 2025, Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) released a statement in response to the shooting of a Cleveland police officer. The officer was injured while serving a warrant for a suspect wanted on felony assault charges.

“Today, my prayers are with the Cleveland police officer who was shot while serving a warrant and with their family. Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. We must ensure they have the resources and support they need to do their jobs and return home safely,” Moreno said.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of law enforcement officers during high-risk operations such as serving warrants for violent offenses.
