The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is seeking public input on a proposed roundabout design for the intersection of State Route 118 and Wren-Landeck Road, located about two miles south of Van Wert. The initiative aims to improve safety by reducing crashes and crash severity through lower vehicle speeds and fewer conflict points.
Public comments on the design alternatives are invited until July 17, 2025. These insights will contribute to shaping the final design of the project.
Due to concerning crash data at the intersection, ODOT conducted a feasibility study to explore potential improvements. After evaluating three roundabout options, ODOT recommends Alternative 2—a single-lane roundabout positioned northeast of the current intersection. This option is believed to effectively balance right-of-way impacts while optimizing entry angles for safe navigation.
